INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:

I am a passionate early childhood educator who loves cultivating a strong foundation and lifelong love of learning in young students. I moved to Arizona in 2017 from the Pacific Northwest (so no more snow days for me!). I graduated from Arizona State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a minor in Family and Human Development. My career began by teaching students how to speak English, which later transitioned into my role as a 2nd grade classroom teacher.

I have a strong passion for phonics and extensive training in how the brain learns to read. I focus on building both literacy skills and a joy for reading through storytelling, creativity, and standards-based instruction. In my classroom, 96% of my students have met their state math goals, and my class achieved the highest growth rate within my student population in a nationally recognized school district in the Valley. I also have several years of one-on-one tutoring experience supporting families within my school community and am excited to extend my services to more families across the city.

My teaching philosophy begins with looking at the whole child. I specialize in Whole Brain Teaching, creating individualized learning goals, and differentiating instruction so every student can experience success at their level. Through tutoring, I collaborate closely with families and use student data, assessments, and ongoing communication to build the most effective learning environment for each child.

Outside of teaching, I love reading on my Kindle with a coffee in hand. I grew up working in a coffee stand and still enjoy creating new drink combinations on my espresso machine. As the daughter of a flight attendant, I also love traveling and occasionally get the chance to explore new places with my mom. I’m also a big animal lover and enjoy caring for pets for friends and families when they are out of town.

At Peak I work with elementary-aged students in grades Pre-K through 5. Tutoring sessions may include personalized learning journals to track goals, identify gaps, and celebrate growth. I also create guided notes, provide hands-on and visual supports, review materials, and targeted practice based on each student’s needs. I have experience working with students who are below grade level, at grade level, and above grade level, as well as providing homework support and helping students build executive functioning skills. I look forward to helping your child grow in confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning!
