Katie D

INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:

I completed my undergraduate studies in Marketing Management at Northwood University. Around 2010, I decided to pursue a career in teaching and later earned an MBA in Education to further enhance my expertise. I have over 15 years of experience supporting students in academic settings.

I currently teach Social Studies, Business, and Study Skills at a local private high school. My background includes extensive study in learning strategies, test-taking techniques, organization, and time management for secondary students.

I focus on cultivating learning through a mind, body, and soul approach — helping students strengthen not only their academic abilities but also their confidence and self-awareness. I strive to build meaningful relationships, encourage healthy study habits, and emphasize the importance of caring for both the brain and body.

Outside of the classroom, I love anything that involves being on the water. I grew up water skiing and now enjoy wake surfing, paddle boarding, and boating. Traveling is another passion of mine — I’ve visited many places around the world and find joy in learning about different cultures and customs.

For Peak, I am thrilled to work with students to strengthen their executive functioning skills, study skills, homework habits, and test preparation strategies, while also deepening their understanding of academic concepts. My goal is to meet each learner where they are, providing the tools and encouragement they need to build confidence, develop independence, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
