INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:
Ever since I was young, I always knew I wanted to work with children! I grew up in Oregon and attended the University of Oregon. While in college, I worked at a Reggio Emilia preschool, which ignited my passion for Early Childhood Education. I graduated with a degree focused on Early Childhood Education and moved to sunny Phoenix to escape the rain. Since then I have gathered teaching experience in PreK-3rd grade, with the bulk of my years spent in kindergarten.
I have truly adored and treasured my time teaching kindergarten, and would argue that it’s the most important year in school! Through my experience in Pre-K through 3rd grade, I’ve seen how essential kindergarten readiness is to a child’s long-term success. I’ve spent the past few years advocating for proper kindergarten readiness through play-based practices within my school district, and recently completed an intensive two-year training on the science of reading and dyslexia.
I believe that play is a child’s first and most powerful teacher! Play is an essential part of my sessions, and I always come prepared with a bag of tricks. Whether it’s an active game of jumping to segment words or searching for letter treasures in my alphabet sensory bin, I love finding creative ways to make learning fun and engaging. After getting to know each child’s unique interests, I enjoy weaving those passions into our sessions. When kids are genuinely engaged, that’s when the best learning happens. When I am not teaching I love trying new coffee shops and tiring out my rambunctious doodle!
At Peak Academics, I provide tutoring support for early elementary learners in grades Pre-K through 2nd, focusing on core academic skills in reading, writing, and math, as well as fine motor development, executive functioning skills, and self-regulation. I have a true passion for working with young learners and feel so honored to support them as they grow and thrive!
