Bernadette K

INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:

I have spent over 20 years working in education and helping students become more confident in their math learning. I have a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. My certifications include Secondary Mathematics, Middle School Mathematics, Elementary Education, and a Mathematics Specialist endorsement.

I have experience teaching Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra, and middle school mathematics in both traditional and online settings. I have also worked as a mathematics interventionist, instructional coach, curriculum writer, teacher mentor, and professional development facilitator. My background includes identifying learning gaps and creating individualized instruction to meet each student’s needs. I especially enjoy making challenging mathematical concepts easier to understand.

I do my best to connect with students by first getting to know their personalities, learning styles, strengths, and individual goals. I work to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I break complex skills into manageable steps to help students build confidence. I also help students develop organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills that can benefit them beyond the classroom.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing competitive pool and continually working to improve my skills. I love traveling, staying active, practicing yoga, and spending time with my daughter. I believe my competitive and adventurous personality helps me encourage students to set meaningful goals, keep working toward them, and become the best they can be.

At Peak Academics, I offer individualized mathematics instruction for middle and high school students. My areas of expertise include middle school mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. I can also provide math intervention, homework support, test preparation, and assistance with executive functioning skills.
