INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:

I grew up in Findlay, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Education with a mathematics major. I have lived and taught in Ohio, Virginia, South Korea, and Arizona.

I spent 30 years in education including time as a middle & high school teacher, department chair, math specialist, k-12 instructional coach, and most recently as a Director of Curriculum & Instruction. I have enjoyed tutoring students one-on-one in my school settings, as well as privately with families throughout my career.

Over the past 30 years I have helped hundreds of students who each had their own unique needs. The key to teaching is building relationships and understanding the individual needs of every student. I strongly believe every person can be successful in math when given the correct tools. There are many ways to master most math concepts and demonstrating and finding the best method for each student is the key to success. Creating small opportunities for success always builds confidence and creates a mindset of math success and ability over time. I think it is helpful to examine upcoming topics while tutoring. With a foundation of a new concept already introduced in tutoring, students often find themselves feeling confident when these concepts are reintroduced in their classroom setting.

Being married to an airline pilot has given me the opportunity to travel the world, which I enjoy immensely. Other hobbies include hiking, reading, scuba diving, trying new restaurants, and taking long bicycle rides with my husband.  I also treasure the time that I am able to attend and serve at Scottsdale Bible Church.

For Peak, I provide math instruction and tutoring services for students in 5th grade and above. In addition to math course support, I offer remediation and enrichment to meet the individual needs of my students.
