Katie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Xavier University in 2006. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011. Katie began her teaching career at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, CA where she was a lead teacher for a 1st-3rd multi-aged classroom. She then taught all subjects in third grade for four years at Madison Rose Lane Elementary. At Rose Lane she served as grade level chair where she led teacher professional development and facilitated faculty meetings. While teaching in the Madison district, Katie was awarded the ‘You Make a Difference Award’ for excellence in education. She currently teaches third grade at Queen of Peace Catholic School. Katie also works with students outside the classroom. She has designed and implemented an inclusive recurring summer camp program for students with special needs. She taught summer school for grades K-4 in math and reading. Katie is passionate about differentiated, whole-child instruction and has attended professional development opportunities featuring Robert Marzano and Singapore Math. Katie offers tutoring support in math for K-4 and reading, writing and general homework support for all grades.
