I grew up in upstate New York and finished high school in Connecticut, where my parents and younger siblings still live. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology from the University of Tulsa, where I also studied French and Business Management. My background is in developmental psychology, but I ultimately found my calling in the classroom. After graduating college and teaching in Oklahoma, I moved to Phoenix in 2008. I have two graduate degrees, an MBA in Human Resources Management and an MEd in Reading Instruction and Curriculum.
I have been an educator for 13 years, having taught grades K- 2 in both public and private schools. I am trained in the Jolly Phonics and Grammar program. I have nine years experience tutoring elementary aged students from grades K – 4 in all subjects.
I always aim to be welcoming, warm, and engaging with all my students. I am careful to listen to parent and teacher input, but also your child’s. My goal is to honor their learning process and adapt my methods so that the student feels successful and supported and enjoys our time together. I strive to help my students develop mindful practices, like reflective pauses, deep breathing to decrease stress, and a growth mindset about their learning.
I am a new mommy! My husband and I welcomed our first child in the summer of 2017. I hope my son will share my love of Legos, Star Wars, and reading. I also love to hike on the trails by our home, travel, do some occasional yoga and drink too much coffee. What I love most about teaching is watching the “aha” moment during new learning.
I offer tutoring services in all elementary subjects, including organizational skills, homework help, Singapore Math (Math in Focus), 4-Square Writing, and Jolly Phonics.
