I am a native Arizonan and grew up mostly in Prescott. In college, I discovered my love of Early Childhood Education. I began teaching preschool and pursuing my teaching degree. In 2011, my passion became a reality when I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. After I began teaching, I followed my passion for teaching reading and returned to NAU to earn my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on Reading Instruction.
Since 2012, I have been teaching first grade and loving every minute of it. My students come from many backgrounds and enter my classroom with a wide range of ability levels and learning styles. My favorite part of teaching is getting to know my students and differentiating my instruction to meet all of their needs. I have worked as a teacher and administrator of my school’s after school program, and I love giving students the extra help and attention they need and deserve.
I always try to connect my teaching with a student’s interests and prior knowledge. If I can help a student make a personal connection, the material becomes more accessible. I like to use activities that are engaging and help learning feel like fun.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy crafting, reading and exercising. You can usually find me in a yoga or spin class on the weekend! I am a big foodie, and I love cooking and exploring new restaurants around the valley.
I am happy to provide tutoring service in all areas of elementary academics, especially for students who are struggling with reading skills.
