Christie is a native of Phoenix and graduated from Xavier College Preparatory in 1999. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Minor in History from St. John’s University, New York in 2003. In 2009 she graduated from Arizona State University with a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. Christie started her career as a substitute teacher and private tutor. She went on to become a classroom teacher in Scottsdale Unified, teaching sixth grade for six years, specializing in social studies and math. As a teacher leader she attended an array of professional development and educational conferences to become a trainer of teachers in Common Core math, writing, twenty-first century learning skills and differentiated instruction. Christie went on to become an assistant principal in Scottsdale Unified, overseeing kindergarten through eighth grade for four years. Through her administrative experience she gained a great depth of knowledge of pedagogy, content and academic and behavioral interventions. She has facilitated hundreds of plans for students and parents to address a wide variety of student needs such as gifted learners, behavioral modifications, ADD and ADHD, specific learning disabilities and English language learners. She has a proven record of increasing student achievement and she is passionate about helping students reach their potential and feel successful at school. Christie offers tutoring services in the humanities, basic math and science, research, organization and time management, general homework support and study skills.
