Katie graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, Katie spent a year teaching Pre-School abroad in Paraguay. After returning back to Arizona, Katie taught Kindergarten and 1st Grade for three years. While she loved the classroom and all of her students, she felt led to pursue a different aspect of teaching. In 2015, Katie went back to school full-time to get her Master’s degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Visual Impairments from the University of Arizona. Upon graduation in December 2016, Katie started her current job as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments in the Deer Valley Unified School District. Katie offers support in numerous areas to elementary and middle school students, such as: organizational support, homework assistance, basic math, writing, and reading comprehension skills. Katie also offers support in beginning level Spanish courses.
