Heidi graduated from Grand Canyon University with her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2004. She went on to earn her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University in 2010. Heidi has 10 years of experience as an educator in the public school system. She is certified to teach grades K-8 and holds a K-12 Reading Specialist endorsement. Heidi started her professional career teaching 3rd grade at Bret Tarver Elementary in the Cartwright School District. During this time, the Rodel Foundation of Arizona named her a Rodel Exemplary Teacher Semi-Finalist. Heidi worked in the after-school tutoring program at Tarver, planning and implementing interventions for at-risk students. She has a great deal of experience working with second-language learners and students with learning difficulties. After teaching in the classroom for seven years, Heidi went on to become a Reading Intervention Specialist. She served as the chairperson for the Problem Solving and Response to Intervention Team on her campus. Heidi has a certification in the Barton Reading and Spelling System and she is well versed in understanding students with reading difficulties. She loves watching young faces light up as they begin to discover the process of reading. Heidi offers reading and spelling intervention to students of all ages.
