FOUR FOR THE FOURTH: IDEAS FOR LEARNING ABOUT THE FOURTH OF JULY

It's summer: time for sparklers, lemonade and hot dogs. The long days afford us plenty of time to enjoy all there is to love about this great country. One of the biggest gifts our country gives us is access to a free, public education. But education doesn't end with the school year. Make sure to keep your kids learning all year long. With the Fourth of July coming this weekend, try incorporating some of these great activities we've gathered from the web:

1. Cassie from 3Dinosaurs.com is offering these free patriotic printables:

Free 4th of July Pack!

2. The folks at readwritethink.com have shared this great lesson plan to encourage analysis and higher-level thinking about Independence Day:

Myth and Truth: Independence Day

3. Pick out a book or two from this list by No Time for Flash Cards:

Patriotic Picture Books for the Fourth of July

4. Get your kids moving with this scavenger hunt from The Military Wife and Mom:

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend! Happy Birthday, America!
